The First Fossil of Nossidiinae From Mid-Cretaceous Amber of Northern Myanmar (Coleoptera: Ptiliidae)

چکیده

Ptiliidae is a group of distinctly miniaturized staphylinoid beetles with scarce fossil record. Here, we report new ptiliid genus and species, Crenossidium slipinskii Li, Newton Cai gen. et sp. nov ., from mid-Cretaceous amber northern Myanmar. can be attributed to the subfamily Nossidiinae based on hind wing morphology, which has also been confirmed through phylogenetic analyses. differs other extant nossidiine genera in combination wide apical maxillary palpomeres, posteriorly widest pronotal disk, (almost) contiguous procoxae, fewer setae along margin, multidentate pygidium. urn:lsid: zoobank.org :pub:8038D763-6856-4AC5-972C-E20D636137EE.

New earwigs in mid-Cretaceous amber from Myanmar (Dermaptera, Neodermaptera)

Two new earwigs (Dermaptera) recently discovered in mid-Cretaceous (latest Albian) amber from Myanmar are described and figured. Astreptolabis ethirosomatiagen. et sp. n. is represented by a peculiar pygidicranoid female, assigned to a new subfamily, Astreptolabidinaesubfam. n., and differs from other protodermapterans in the structure of the head, pronotum, tegmina, and cercal forceps. Tytthod...

A fossil bee from Early Cretaceous Burmese amber.

The bee fossil record is fragmentary, making it difficult to accurately estimate the antiquity of bee-mediated pollination. Here, we describe a bee fossil [Melittosphex burmensis (new species), Melittosphecidae (new family)] from Early Cretaceous Burmese amber (approximately 100 million years before the present). The fossil provides insights into the morphology of the earliest bees and provides...

A new genus of fossil Mymaridae (Hymenoptera) from Cretaceous amber and key to Cretaceous mymarid genera

Myanmymar aresconoidesgen n., sp. n. is described from one female in Burmese amber, dated as about 100 my. It is similar to Arescon on wing features but is unique among Mymaridae in having distinctly segmented palpi. It is the fifth mymarid genus definitely referable to the Cretaceous period. A key to Cretaceous mymarid genera is presented and the features of Myanmymar are compared with the oth...

Emergence of a superradiation: pselaphine rove beetles in mid-Cretaceous amber from Myanmar and their evolutionary implications

Pselaphinae is an exceptionally species-rich, globally distributed subfamily of minute rove beetles (Staphylinidae), many of which are inquilines of social insects. Deducing the factors that drove pselaphine diversification and their evolutionary predisposition to inquilinism requires a reliable timescale of pselaphine cladogenesis. Pselaphinae is split into a small and highly plesiomorphic sup...

The first ibis fly in mid-Cretaceous amber of France (Diptera: Athericidae).

A new genus and species of ibis fly is described from an isolated wing in amber from the Late Albian-Early Cenomanian of Charentes, southwestern France. Galloatherix incompletus gen. et sp. n., is the first Athericidae fossilized in Cretaceous amber, and only the eighth Mesozoic species. It adds to the diverse aquatic and semiaquatic paleobiota already identified from Charentese amber.
